Hello 2017. I always love the start of a new year – the idea of starting afresh is very appealing, with a whole 12 months ahead to fulfil hopes and aspirations. I am especially loving this New Year in particular because the surgery I urgently needed is now firmly behind me, consigned to December 2016 and no longer looming large in the future as something to dread and be frightened of. So to have reached this point, I am a very happy bunny indeed.
I love the idea of New Year resolutions but mine always seem to end up as a glorified to do list – not really aspirational , more a list of things that have to be done. This year I have decided to take a different approach. I signed up for Susannah Conway’s free 5 day Find Your Word 2017 course – the idea being that a word (or collection of words) can better guide you, inform you as you make your way through the year. This appealed to me somehow as I’ve realised it’s not just about accomplishing things, about getting things done, but also perhaps more importantly about self care, nurturing relationships and how I want my year to feel. And as I focus on my recovery, I hope that my chosen word will help steer me through and get me back to my usual healthy, bubbly self.
I’m on day 4 of the course and have already found it quite though provoking. I think it has given me a more rounded approach as to how I would like 2017 to unfold. Who knows what the year will bring but I hope that having my chosen word will help keep me grounded and focused on what is important to me. Maybe you might find it useful also – you can learn more about the course on Susannah Conway’s blog. I highly recommend a visit.
In the meantime, I wish you all a Happy New Year (sorry it’s a bit late). Let’s hope it’s a good one.
