‘Autumn paints in colours that summer has never seen’.
I couldn’t find who uttered those words but they struck a cord with me. For while I enjoy summer, it’s the colours of autumn I love the most, no more so than in the garden.
I took a little trip to Antrim Castle Gardens last weekend – it was a lovely morning and I was lucky to arrive just in time to grab the last free space in the car park. The place is becoming even more popular during this strange time we are all living through right now . I make a beeline for the cottage garden located at the heart of the estate. I have real admiration for the volunteers who maintain the garden, tirelessly creating new planting schemes for us to enjoy through the seasons. Who knows…maybe I’ll get to volunteer there one day.
In the meantime, I am happy to wander around with my camera, capturing scenes of a cottage garden, enjoying the rich colours and the light of late autumn.

In other news…
As I mentioned in my last post, the hedgehog(s) are a daily visitor to the garden now and we finally managed to capture some footage which I’ve shared on my Instagram account – https://www.instagram.com/type_writer_girl/. To be honest, it’s become addictive viewing…hedgehogs, we’ve learnt, are much more entertaining than most of what’s on TV !
I completely forgot to mention last week the winner of my calendar giveaway. It was Annie @nohurrybehappy on Instagram who was the lucky winner and a calendar is now winging its way to her in England.
If you’d like to purchase a copy of my calendar, I have made a few available for sale on my blog. The price is £10 including UK postage – 2nd Class recorded.
Just follow this link to the Typewriter Girl calendar – 2021 Calendar
In the meantime, hope you have a lovely Sunday.
