Frequently Asked Questions

A few things you might be wondering about berfore we get started.

What is storytelling brand photography ?

Storytelling brand photography is about more than a few polished headshots.

It’s about capturing the feel of your business — the people, places, products, processes and little details that make it yours.

That might mean photographing you working in your studio, the flowers you’ve grown, the products you’ve made, your beautiful shop or workspace, the details your customers might otherwise miss, or the experience you create for the people who visit you.

The result is a collection of photographs that tells the bigger story of your business — not just who you are, but what you make, what you do and what it feels like to experience your brand.

Who do you work with ?

I work with small, creative and independent businesses where there’s a real story behind what you do.

If your business has personality and you want your photographs to reflect it, we’ll probably be a good fit.

What can we photograph?

Pretty much anything that helps tell the story of your business.

That can include you, your products, your space, your process and the little details that make your business unique.

We might photograph you making something, your finished products, flowers growing in the field, your studio or shop, packaging orders, preparing for customers, tending the garden, getting a shepherd’s hut ready for guests, or simply enjoying the everyday moments of running your business.

The aim is to create a varied collection of photographs that you can actually use — not just one lovely portrait or product photo.

Do I need to be good in front of the camera?

Most of my clients tell me they feel a little awkward in front of the camera to begin with — and that’s completely normal.

I’m not looking for stiff poses or forced smiles. I’ll give you gentle direction when you need it, but much of the time I’ll be photographing you simply doing what you do.

My aim is for you to look like you — comfortable, natural and completely at home in your own business.

What happens during a branding shoot?

Before your shoot, we’ll have a conversation about your business, what you want your photographs to say and where you’ll be using them. We can chat via Instagram or in person depending on location. Together, we’ll agree the story you want to capture and a shot list to help give the photo shoot a structure.

On the day, we’ll photograph a mixture of you, your products, your space, your process and the details that make your business yours.

That could mean photographing your latest collection, the flowers you’ve grown, products being made or packaged, your shop or studio, your customers’ experience, and the quieter in-between moments that tell the story.

The shoot is relaxed and unhurried, with plenty of room for things to unfold naturally. I’ll guide you where needed, but the aim is always to capture your business as it really is.

Where do you photograph?

I love photographing businesses in their natural environment, so wherever your story happens is usually the best place to start.

That could be your flower field, garden, studio, workshop, shop, home, accommodation or outdoor space.

If you don’t have a particularly photogenic workspace, don’t worry. We can chat about other options and find somewhere that feels right for you and your brand.

How long does a branding shoot take?

Every business is different, so I offer different options depending on what you need.

Some businesses need a shorter session to refresh their image library, while others benefit from a more immersive shoot that gives us plenty of time to tell the whole story.

We’ll work out what makes sense for you before you book.

What should I wear?

Something you feel comfortable in and that feels like you.

I generally recommend choosing clothes that fit naturally with your business and the colours and atmosphere of your brand.

We can talk through clothing and styling beforehand if you’d like a little guidance.

What if the weather is terrible?

For outdoor businesses, the weather is part of the story — and sometimes soft, overcast or slightly wild weather can make beautiful photographs.

If the weather genuinely prevents us from doing the shoot we’ve planned, we’ll rearrange. I’d much rather create photographs you love than force a shoot on a day that simply isn’t working.

What if I need to change my plans?

Life happens, and sometimes plans need to change. My booking terms explain what happens if you need to reschedule or cancel, and I’ll always do my best to be as flexible as I can.

How far do you travel?

I’m based in Northern Ireland and am happy to travel for the right project.

If you’re further afield, get in touch and tell me where you are. We can have a chat about what’s possible. Travel is included within a certain area, but for locations further afield there may be an additional travel charge to cover fuel and other travel expenses.

I’ll always let you know about any additional travel costs before you book, so there are no surprises.

If you’re not sure whether you’re within my usual travel area, just get in touch with your location and I’ll let you know.

Can I use the photographs on my website & social media?

Your photographs are created to give you a useful library of images that you can use across your website, social media, newsletters and other marketing.

I’ll make sure you receive a varied collection so you have plenty of images to work with — including photographs that can be used for different pages, posts and purposes..

How do I book?

Just get in touch and tell me a little about your business, what you’re looking for and where you’re based.

We’ll have a chat about your ideas, I’ll recommend the type of shoot I think would work best, and we’ll find a date that works for us both.

To secure your date, I ask for a 30% booking fee. Your date is confirmed once this has been paid, with the remaining balance due before your final photographs are delivered.
