Wick and Fern | Seasonal Home Fragrance, Lough Neagh

Aimee creates seasonal home fragrance inspired by nature, making botanical candles from her studio along the shores of Lough Neagh.

She had recently released a new range of botanical candles and wanted a collection of photographs for her website and social media — images that would show the candles in a natural, lived-in setting, as well as capturing the details of the products and their packaging.

Inspired by nature

We spent a full day at Little Woodbank photographing the new collection in a beautiful setting.

The aim was to create a varied collection of lifestyle images, showing the candles in different rooms and settings around the house, as well as outside in the garden.

I photographed the candles both lit and unlit, along with their packaging and the details that make up the finished product. Moving between different rooms and outdoor spaces gave us lots of opportunities to create images with different moods while keeping the natural, botanical feel at the heart of the collection.

It was one of those shoots where everything came together beautifully — a gorgeous day, a stunning location and lots of ideas to work through together. The day was full-on and collaborative, which is often when I find the best images happen.

Creating a useful collection of images

The photographs were created for Wick and Fern’s website and social media, giving Aimee a varied collection of images to introduce her new botanical candle range and share the feeling behind the brand.

Lifestyle photography can be particularly useful for products like candles and home fragrance. Rather than showing a product on its own, photographs can help people imagine it in their own home — lit on a table, sitting amongst other objects or becoming part of an everyday moment.

For me, the best brand photography is about creating that sense of place. It’s about showing the product, but also the atmosphere, details and ideas that sit behind it.
