A quick look at the date confirms it is time to say Hello October. And I, for one, couldn’t be happier. This first October weekend has already blessed us with soft mellow sunshine and crisp autumn air. Exactly everything you would hope for in what is one of my favourite months.
It was the perfect opportunity then to take Boris, our basset hound, to Hazelbank park. It’s one of our favourite spots for an autumn stroll. Hazelbank is situated on the shores of Belfast Lough in Newtownabbey and offers great views to Belfast and the east Antrim coast. It’s a popular spot for families, dog walkers and cyclists alike.
Signs of autumn
I managed to take a few pictures. Not the easiest of tasks with an inquisitive basset hound in tow. As we walked around the small wood, there were signs of autumn everywhere. Clusters of pine cones lay underfoot while above a canopy of gold coloured leaves rustled in the breeze. Hydrangeas were fading into their autumn hues. And flowers were adorned with seedheads. It was evident that nature is slowly embracing the golden and melancholy tones of October. I just love it.
Hello October

And down to the shore
Then we made our way down to the shore, peaking out at us from behind the trees. The sea was calm. And as walked along the shore, the sky and sea just seemed to merge into one, the clouds reflecting on the still waters.

All in all, Boris and I had a lovely afternoon spent walking through the woodland and then down to the shore. It was the perfect way to say Hello October and enjoy what this beautiful month brings. I hope there will be more October days just like this one.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend wherever you are.
