A fortnight ago I took a little trip to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens. It’s located in the village of Hillsborough about a 20 minute drive from Belfast and is Northern Ireland’s only royal residence. It’s a beautiful place to wander round and soak up some botanical inspiration and styling. I couldn’t help but admire the gardeners out working in the walled garden in what were rather cold and soggy conditions. And I had just had enough time for a walk around before it started snowing. I took refuge for a while in the glasshouse (which I loved !) before making a quick dash back to the lovely tea room to dry out and warm up with a hot cup of tea.
February may not be the most obvious time to visit a garden. However, there were encouraging signs of spring everywhere. There were drifts of pretty snowdrops and trails of vinca major (periwinkle) and the almost translucent flowers of the winter flowering cherry blossom. It must surely mean that spring is just round the corner.

A lovely share as always Paula. 🌷
In the next to the last photo, the way you framed the flowers in front of the terra-cotta pots behind them, they make a sweet frog’s face which made me smile ☺️. You have a wonderful eye.
